What Makes Our Hulls Different?
For over 40 years, Earl Bentz has designed high-quality performance fiberglass fishing boats, which offer:
For the Caymas saltwater boats, Earl recognized that Caymas Boats needed the latest in hull design, so he chose Michael Peters of Michael Peters Yacht Design to design Caymas Boats. Well known in the industry, Michael Peters has designed boats and hulls for leading, global performance racing yacht brands for the past 25 years.
Therefore, all Caymas Saltwater boats are built with the Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) hull, a Michael Peters-patented hull.
Even the Navy Chooses SVVT Hulls
It is not only Caymas Boats that believes in these hulls. The United States Navy has adopted the SVVT hull design for boats in their fleet as well. The Navy chose the SVVT hull because it delivers on speed, safety, and a ride that minimizes discomfort and therefore fatigue.
Benefits of SVVT Hulls
SVVT hulls are visually unique from other hulls as the image clearly shows. The SVVT hull provides clear owner performance advantages to conventional V hulls or generic stepped hulls:
Advantage 1
The SVVT hull design reduces wetted surface , which equals less drag.
- Higher speeds
- Quicker acceleration
- Lower planing speeds
- Better fuel economy
Advantage 2
The SVVT hull vertical sidewall tunnel increases lateral resistance
- Improved directional stability and reliable maneuverability
- No spin-outs
Advantage 3
The SVVT shallow tunnel hull provides lower dynamic motions
- A more stable ride
- Less slamming
- Lower planing speeds
- Less roll and pitch
SVVT® Hull provides 15% increase in speed compared to conventional “V” hull construction
